A Credible Regimen for Resolving Vaccine-Induced Coagulation Crisis

In the wake of the roll out of vaccines against SARS Cov-2 virus, the world ran into unexpected crisis when reported cases of coagulation disorders among recipients of SARS Cov-2 vaccines emanated. This threw spanners into the works as global vaccines effort was on the brink of collapse
So far, research findings from the use of the drug, argatroban, in combination with intravenous immunoglobulins have proven to be effective in the treatment and eventual resolution of coagulation crisis observed in recipients of astrazeneca and Johnson and Johnson vaccines
In a case study involving a 26 year old female patient who developed bilateral deep vein thrombosis in her lower legs and severe thrombocytopenia, the researchers tried out regimens for fondaparinux, apixaban, danaparoid and argatroban. Interestingly, only high doses of argatroban in combination with parental anticoagulation therapy resolved the coagulation crisis, thus cementing its place as a credible alternative in the treatment of vaccine-induced coagulopathies.
